RICH - jOKERS HERE BEEN READING THROUGH YOUR POST ABOUT UT2004.INI FILE.
OK. Listed below is the complete section you need for correct connection and action of the ut2004.ini file.
------------------------------------------------------------------
this is the original section he is more than likely missing.copy and paste the following [Engine.LevelInfo] code.
place it or replace it under this section:
[Engine.AmbientSound]
AmbientVolume=0.25[Engine.LevelInfo]
PhysicsDetailLevel=PDL_Medium
MeshLODDetailLevel=MDL_Medium
bLowSoundDetail=False
DecalStayScale=1.0
bNeverPrecache=false
TimeMarginSlack=1.35
MaxClientFrameRate=+90.0
bShouldPreload=True
bDesireSkinPreload=True
-----------------------------------------------------------------
the MaxClientFrameRate=+90.0 change to 500
take out the +90 and replace it with 500
please search the ut2004.ini file for this listed below
[Engine.GameEngine]
CacheSizeMegs=32
change the 32 to 300 minimum. all depends on your memory you have installed.
this helps in loading time and transfer of information within game.
when unreal was created the internet is not like it is today and those old default sizes just
do NOT make it today in online play. we have gigs of RAM NOT mega bytes. AND CABLE not PHONE LINE modems.
Microdosft - just a quick note. in the 90's defaulted to a max connection rate of 1500. windows was actually
designed for inter office use and not really a game play machine. with advent of ever increasing technology microsoft let the
gaming industry and players handle this section. If you go to a site called
http://www.speedguide.net you will see a wounderous wealth
of information about windows, mac redhat os's. settings and so on. That site is for the more experienced developer, but will show you the many aspects of control.
There is also another section to consider.
The maxclientrate Located under this section:
[IpDrv.TcpNetDriver]usually good setting is
10000 for cable; 5000 for DSL modems.
packets [information] transmitted through the internet and your nic card {
Network
Information
Card} buffers along with your connection box
be it cable, fios,netcom,lightpath whatever connection you have in your home
as a connection to the internet. That is affected by this Cable setting 10000. yes you can make it 10001 for a drop bit. but
personally I see no expeditious connection for dropped packets in the extra bit added. This would depend on it's
external box [buffered connection] as stated above.
That being said. it's 2013 and speed needs more memory buffering as within your .ini file such as 300 for gameEngineCache.
not 32. So try those out. They will work. Any questions feel free to ask and I will be glad to assist.
