Howdy Pilgrim, Maninator Madman cant git on server, he done lost hiz password agin. :evil: Ahs a gonna pm u his email jes in case u don hav it.
Now here is the real problem; he is missing the "MaxClientFrameRate=" line of text in his ut2004.ini file!!!!
He needs yer hep bad!! Ah done tried ta hep em but Ah kaint.
Ah tolt him ta try & re-install the game but it's now 1AM an we are all wore out fum tryin.
Ah had him make a backup of the user.ini file by mistake but at least now he knows howta find the files & make backups 4 safekeeping.
HOWEVER when I figgered out thet Ah done went & started all this with the wrong file we then looked at the proper file "ut2004.ini" an low an beholt he found "[Engine.LevelInfo]" OK....BUT He don have no "MaxClientFramerate=" ANYWHERES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :x
Now he done tolt me thet th store tested his fps on "DIRT 2" which is way tougher on a computer than UT2K4 is,.....
an with "DIRT 2" he got OVER 200 fps!!!!
Since he kaint even find the "MaxClientFramerate=" How in Tarnation kin he change anything to un-cap UT2K4's frame rate????? Or even run th CON SARNED game!
Ah suggested a re-install or repair option from his play disk OR backing up & renaming his current "UT2004.ini" file 4 safekeeping (since his game does play now) & then adding in the "MaxClientFramerate= 500.000000" under "[Engine.LevelInfo]" to create a new "UT2004.ini" file to fix this.
Heres the problem, we compared files an he had more lines of text missing other than the "MaxClientFramerate=" :!: :!: :!:
MANINATOR MADMAN NEEDS BONJAA'S HEP !!!! After 2 hours of me fumblin around tryin ta hep & not gettin anywhars hes sez hes gonna kill me!!! HEP! Specially since hiz Better Haf caught him & us Whorin around in Second Life!! Theys both madder than a wet hornet at yers truly! TARNATION! RICH.

RICH - jOKERS HERE BEEN READING THROUGH YOUR POST ABOUT UT2004.INI FILE.

OK. Listed below is the complete section you need for correct connection and action of the ut2004.ini file.

------------------------------------------------------------------
this is the original section he is more than likely missing.
copy and paste the following [Engine.LevelInfo] code.

place it or replace it under this section:
[Engine.AmbientSound]
AmbientVolume=0.25

[Engine.LevelInfo]
PhysicsDetailLevel=PDL_Medium
MeshLODDetailLevel=MDL_Medium
bLowSoundDetail=False
DecalStayScale=1.0
bNeverPrecache=false
TimeMarginSlack=1.35
MaxClientFrameRate=+90.0
bShouldPreload=True
bDesireSkinPreload=True

-----------------------------------------------------------------

the MaxClientFrameRate=+90.0 change to 500 take out the +90 and replace it with 500

please search the ut2004.ini file for this listed below
[Engine.GameEngine]
CacheSizeMegs=32

change the 32 to 300 minimum. all depends on your memory you have installed.
this helps in loading time and transfer of information within game.

when unreal was created the internet is not like it is today and those old default sizes just
do NOT make it today in online play. we have gigs of RAM NOT mega bytes. AND CABLE not PHONE LINE modems.
Microdosft - just a quick note. in the 90's defaulted to a max connection rate of 1500. windows was actually
designed for inter office use and not really a game play machine. with advent of ever increasing technology microsoft let the
gaming industry and players handle this section. If you go to a site called http://www.speedguide.net you will see a wounderous wealth
of information about windows, mac redhat os's. settings and so on. That site is for the more experienced developer, but will show you the many aspects of control.

There is also another section to consider. :shock: The maxclientrate Located under this section:
[IpDrv.TcpNetDriver]

usually good setting is 10000 for cable; 5000 for DSL modems.
packets [information] transmitted through the internet and your nic card {Network Information Card} buffers along with your connection box
be it cable, fios,netcom,lightpath whatever connection you have in your home
as a connection to the internet. That is affected by this Cable setting 10000. yes you can make it 10001 for a drop bit. but
personally I see no expeditious connection for dropped packets in the extra bit added. This would depend on it's
external box [buffered connection] as stated above.

That being said. it's 2013 and speed needs more memory buffering as within your .ini file such as 300 for gameEngineCache. :o
not 32. So try those out. They will work. Any questions feel free to ask and I will be glad to assist.

Regards;
"JW"

Sure...
as far as passwords go. in a browser; let say firefox. if you saved your login preference. then go to the menu
under >firefox {orange tab} top left =>options =>security =>left click on saved passwords > left click on show passwords > left click YES.

In that list; that is presented to you. Look through and see the login name and your password. For ALL
sites that you have saved your user name and password some sites do it automatically which is cool.
like bonjaa's site "log me on automatically next time I connect" you need to click that. it saves it to firefox password
section mentioned above. :o

It just might be there. Usually are. firefox gives us the option to export this file also. 8-)
that's because people reinstall there operating system and also realize people do NOT write them down somewhere. :roll:
LOL. :lol:

Sorry guys - just seeing this post! Did you all get it figured out, or do you still need a password reset?

Work before play, and if work becomes play - PLAY HARD!
